This composition governs that this product is effectively treats cough. It does it by promoting the expulsion of mucus from the airways by loosening it or makes it thin so that it can easily passes away and thus provide relief from the congestion, viscous mucus and from cough.

Diphenhydramine Hcl exit as salt from of diphenhydramine and is belongs to the class ethanolamine and is known as first-generation anti-histaminic derivatives. Ammonium Chloride is an inorganic compound and has irritative action on the bronchial mucosa. It facilitates the production of respiratory fluid which causes the expulsion of mucus or phlegm from the tract.

Sodium Citrate is generally known as sodium salt of citric acid. It is mucolytic agent; mucolytic agents are those which help in the breakdown the mucus.

Menthol is considered as anti-tussive agent and mainly used in lozenges and cough syrups as to supress coughing.

Mechanism of Action-

Diphenhydramine blocks the H1 receptors located in the respiratory smooth muscles, Vascular endothelial cells, gastrointestinal tract and immune cells thus decreases allergic symptoms or flushing.
Ammonium Citrate is an expectorant and works by removing the stickiness of the phlegm or secretions to the tract and promote their expulsion.
Sodium Citrate works by loosening the viscous mucus and expel them out.
Menthol also works as anaesthetic and helps to provide relief from the sore throat and makes the throat cooler and provide relief from nasal congestion.

Do not use this product in the following conditions:
  • Contraindicated in overactive thyroid
  • Contraindicated in hypertension
